Newsletter Number One
Hello, and welcome to my newsletter. I just wanted to say 'Hi' and thanks again for signing up. Here's a roundup of my first week on Substack. Do please share with anyone you think might enjoy it!
Welcome to gavisgone.com’s completely free newsletter. SubscribeNow for regular peace of mind in email form, with stuff you can’t google. Essays, stories and blog posts as I explore the west of Ireland, learn to surf, write about how to manage your health and wellbeing, and reflect on what I’ve learned from a decade of travel. Completely free, zero spam.
Hi all,
Thanks so much to everyone who signed up. This is my first week on a new platform that I’m hoping will streamline things and let me focus more on the writing and less on the other boring stuff.
I’m hoping to put out regular posts each week under a few broad headings:
- articles on psychology, philosophy and other stuff I might have been reading about that might help with your own well-being in these uncertain times;
- travel pieces about trips I’ve been having around Mayo the last while (all done in pre-level 5 days of course), largely about my attempts to learn to surf and why that’s a good thing to do (there’s a lot more to it than just having fun J)
- and essays, stories, and articles from my days further abroad that I’ve been meaning to get around to for way too long now. Hopefully I’ll have the first of these coming this week, in the meantime I may repost some older ones.
I’m hoping that some day in the not-too-distant-nor-imaginary future I’ll be able to join a few dots with some of the articles and put them together into books of some kind. For now I’m going to write them as they come, partly thinking out loud and partly letting the writing do the organising for me.
I promised you emails but not too many, so I’m going to keep the email alerts for weekly updates on what I’ve posted throughout the wee (this was supposed to go out on Sunday but once I found out it was a bank holiday my brain went into bank holiday mode. I like to celebrate any changing of the clocks as well). Do feel free to check back here or at https://gavisgone.com if you ever feel like having a read.
Here’s a list of new and some old articles that I’ve uploaded this week. I think it provides a good mix of what I’ve been working on lately and where I hope to go with this in the future.
Thanks for the comments and feedback so far, I’d love to hear your thoughts on anything I write and what you like and don’t like about the newsletter. And thanks again for signing up.
Please share it with anyone you think might enjoy or otherwise get something out of!
Cheers and stay safe,
Gav
